Movies are something that mostly everyone watches and I do love watching them. I have seen an abundance of movies, maybe not all the classics but I will get there some day.  I torrent the movies that I want to watch. I think many others do the same without really thinking about the big picture. There are consequences to these actions but some people do not pay attention to them, so what are they?

One consequence is that people can face is a hefty fine. At the low end of $150 to a staggering 150k per move that was pirated. Even face jail time if the violation is criminal. Maximum sentences vary from as short as one year to as long as ten years depending on the violation.

People might know what they are doing is illegal but still decide to do it anyway. Most people go through the same thought process as I do which is that I won’t get caught, they have bigger people to go after. Is it really worth the risk though?

Many people say that the downloading of movies hurts the entertainment industry. This is something to consider. Does it really hurt the big corporations? Most of the top pirated movies are still on top at the box office. I feel it hurts the little guy more than the bigger corporations.

Looking at this you should buy that movie or go to the theater instead of downloading it illegally. You wouldn’t steal a car or purse shouldn’t it be the same for a movie?

Summary Writing

You need to be able to summarize before you can be successful at most of the other kinds of writing that will be demanded of you in school, and it is an important part of note taking also. You want to leave your personal opinions or interpretations and just leave the facts out there as they were received.


You can answer questions such as “what was the movie about?” “how did the game go?” and “what did I miss in class today?” answering these questions are given in a summery. Someone asking might not want to knew ever single detail from the class they missed the other day. You need to pick important details and then convey that to someone. Similarly, when you summarize a reading you need to be able to find the important data and then present it as clearly and concisely as possible.

Documentaries--Super Size Me

Documentaries are something which I do not watch often but I do find them very interesting. They give incite on topics that maybe we aren't very familiar with. I've only watch a few, most of them being in the field of science since I find that particular topic very interesting.

Viewing documentaries is also incredibly educational. Most of the time when I'm done watching a documentary I come away from the experience a more intelligent individual. They are great to use a s reference or resource on a specific topic. It also forces someone to view a specific problem from a few different perspectives.

I decided to watch the documentary Super Size Me. In this documentary which was involved one of the worlds most popular fast food chains, Morgan Spurlock sets out on what he describes as “every eight year old’s dream” for a whole month he enjoys (kind of), a three meal everyday binge at McDonald’s fast food restaurants. In one month he eats the same amount of McDonald’s food that nutritionists recommend eating over the course of eight years and gains weight which is shocking I know.

After watching this film I couldn't even think about eating or even going to McDonald's it kind of made my stomach ache. Chances are ill still be at a McDonald's within a few weeks ordering the same thing as I always do but with a better perspective on the food i am putting into my body.
